John Russell
Chairman
John is responsible for running the board and setting its agenda while ensuring that members of the board receive accurate, timely and clear information about the company’s performance to enable the board to make sound decisions, monitor effectively and provide advice to promote the success of the company. He is responsible for communication with shareholders and he is a member of the remuneration and audit committees. John is a former investment banker with broad business and corporate governance experience. He joined the Board as a Non-executive Director in April 2005 and was appointed Non Executive Chairman in March 2007. He has more than 30 years of investment banking experience in Sydney, London and New York at a senior level with Bain & Co and then Deutsche Bank AG. He left Deutsche Bank in 1999. Since then he has been a consultant and corporate finance adviser to smaller British and Australian companies in the technology sector. John is also Chairman of Henderson Far East Income Limited.
Dr Argeris (Jerry) Karabelas, Ph.D.
Jerry has had a distinguished career at senior levels in the global pharmaceuticals industry. He was Head of Healthcare and CEO of worldwide Pharmaceuticals for Novartis AG from 1998 until July 2000. He had full responsibility for Novartis Pharma, Ciba Vision and Generics representing US$ 12 billion in annual sales. Included in these responsibilities was strategic and operational leadership of R&D with a budget in excess of US$ 2 billion. Prior to joining Novartis, Jerry was Executive Vice President of SmithKline Beecham responsible for US operations, European operations, Regulatory, and Strategic Marketing. He has been responsible for numerous pharmaceutical product approvals and new product launches, including the launch of 3 US $1 billion products.. He is currently a Partner of Care Capital LLC, a specialist US healthcare venture capital investment fund, and is Director of a number of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies.
He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Massachusetts General Hospital, the Visiting Committee for Health Sciences and Technology at MIT, a Director of SkyePharma Plc, Human Genome! Sciences, Nitromed, Anadys, and a Trustee of Fox Chase Cancer Center and the Philadelphia University of the Sciences.
Robert Stubbs
Robert is the Chairman of the audit and remuneration committees. He is a corporate financier with extensive experience of the development and conduct of companies across a range of industrial and commercial sectors. He was a founder and formerly the Chairman and Chief Executive of Minster prior to the acquisition of Minster Research. He has been active in corporate finance since 1995 and has been a director of Weavering Corporate Finance since 2002.
